Biking in the rain is quite a humbling experience.
Despite the weather being absolutely gorgeous today, around high 60s mid 70s, and smelling of crisp fall air, on my way home I ran into quite the downpour. The kind of downpour that when you look outside you’re like “Damn it’s really coming down out there.” Legit sheets of rain. I was only wearing a jean jacket without a hood and no umbrella.
As I was coming home through Vondelpark, many people were seeking shelter under the bridge and trees. I considered stopping as well, but then again thought of the Albert Einstein quote, “Life is like a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” This quote made complete sense in the rain because sometimes things don’t go as planned and life feels dreary, but if you don’t keep moving, you might get stuck waiting and hiding for an indefinite amount of time. BUT, if you just keep moving, you will eventually reach a warm, dry place. No promises it will be anytime soon, but just keep bicycling.
